The Baltimore Ravens are reportedly close to securing a deal with five-time Pro Bowl linebacker C.J. Mosley, a move that could address some of their pressing defensive needs. Mosley, who previously played for the Ravens from 2014 to 2018, is known for his leadership, experience, and playmaking ability. His return would provide an immediate boost to a unit that is looking to strengthen its linebacker corps.

A reunion with Mosley makes sense given his outstanding track record in Baltimore. He played some of his best football with the Ravens, thriving in their dynamic defensive scheme. At this point in his career, Mosley brings more than just physical talent — his leadership and football IQ are invaluable, especially for a defense that has lacked veteran presence in recent seasons.

The Ravens’ defense has been in a state of flux, especially with the departure of veteran pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney to the Carolina Panthers. Young players like David Ojabo and Odafe Oweh have shown potential, but they’ve struggled to consistently step up.

The addition of Mosley could provide immediate help in both run defense and pass coverage, especially when quarterbacks look to make quick, short throws. His ability to read plays and his experience against elite quarterbacks would be crucial in tightening up the Ravens’ defense.

While Mosley’s presence won’t completely fix the defensive woes in Baltimore, it would be a step in the right direction. His return to the Ravens could also serve as a stabilizing force, making them a more formidable opponent, particularly in pass defense. With a lucrative deal on the horizon, the Ravens appear ready to bring back one of their most accomplished defenders to help lead the charge for a Super Bowl-caliber defense.
