CLEMSON — On national signing day, Clemson football secured its first defensive back for the 2025 class, signing three-star recruit Jakarrion Kenan.
The 6-foot, 177-pound athlete from Marlboro County High School in Bennettsville, South Carolina, is ranked as the 12th best player in the state by the 247Sports Composite rankings. He decommitted from Rutgers in October and revealed his decision to join the Tigers through an Instagram live announcement.

On national signing day, Kenan decided to commit to Clemson, opting for it over Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and NC State. His decision comes after several defensive backs, including four-stars Jordan Young, Tae Harris, and Graceson Littleton, decommitted from the Tigers during this recruiting cycle. Their decommitments were among the seven total for Clemson in this cycle.
Kenan is the fifth defensive player to commit to Clemson and the third from South Carolina, joining four-star defensive lineman Amare Adams and four-star running back Marquise Henderson.
Will Jakarrion Kenan see immediate playing time with Clemson football
Kenan is unlikely to see immediate playing time with the Tigers. Although safety R.J. Mickens’ eligibility is ending and defensive back Tyler Venables may return for another season, players such as Khalil Barnes, Kylon Griffin, Ricardo Jones, and Rob Billings are expected to be ahead of Kenan on the depth chart.
