Clemson WR Commits to ACC Rival as He Seeks a New Program to Call Home

Clemson junior wide receiver Troy Stellato became the first Tiger to enter the transfer portal this week, and it appears he may soon be playing for an ACC rival.

The possibility of Stellato joining another ACC program may not sit well with Clemson fans, especially since the Tigers are set to play Louisville in 2025. This would give Stellato a chance to face his former team and potentially seek revenge on the field.

A native of Florida, Stellato’s career at Clemson has been marked by both promise and setbacks. Rated as a 4-star prospect in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports, he played in only two games as a true freshman, recording two receptions for 15 yards.

In 2022, his season was derailed before it even began, as he tore a knee ligament during fall camp. But Stellato bounced back in 2023 with a breakout season.

That year, he caught 38 passes for 321 yards and a touchdown, making six starts in 12 appearances. He set a then-career-high with 51 yards on five receptions against Charleston Southern in his first game back from injury. Later in the season, he had a six-catch, 50-yard performance against North Carolina. His only touchdown of the season came against Syracuse.

In 2024, Stellato continued to produce, finishing with 25 receptions for 264 yards and a touchdown in nine games. He made five starts and played 309 snaps. Two of his standout performances came in back-to-back weeks — a six-catch, 72-yard game with a touchdown against Wake Forest, followed by a seven-catch, 74-yard outing against Virginia.

Unfortunately, his 2024 season was cut short due to hand surgery in November, marking yet another injury setback. Now, Stellato is looking for a fresh start, and Louisville may be the program that provides it. As his search for a new home continues, the prospect of him lining up against Clemson in 2025 adds an intriguing layer to his transfer journey.
