The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed offensive tackle Calvin Anderson on injured reserve after he sustained a groin injury during practice this week. Anderson will miss the remainder of the regular season, though he could potentially return for the playoffs if needed. This move was made to accommodate defensive tackle Montravius Adams on the 53-man roster.
Anderson was listed as a limited participant on Friday’s injury report and was considered questionable for the team’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He will now be sidelined for at least the next four weeks due to the injury.

The Steelers signed Anderson after Troy Fautanu was lost for the rest of the season in Week 3 due to a dislocated kneecap. Fautanu has a slim chance of returning for the playoffs as he continues his recovery from surgery.
With Anderson unavailable, Spencer Anderson is the primary backup on the active roster. The Steelers may also consider promoting one of Dylan Cook or Doug Nester, both true tackles, from the practice squad to provide additional depth.
