Florida State has secured a second commitment from the NCAA Transfer Portal, and it’s a familiar name to the fanbase.
On Thursday, Markeston Douglas, a tight end transfer from Arizona State, revealed that he would be returning to Tallahassee. Douglas, who played for Florida State for four years before spending the 2024 season with the Sun Devils, is expected to have one more year of eligibility remaining.
During his time at Arizona State this fall, Douglas participated in all 13 games, making one catch for three yards. He also contributed as a reserve player, totaling 231 offensive snaps.
The Tennessee native joined Florida State as a three-star recruit in Mike Norvell’s first recruiting class in 2020. After spending two seasons as a reserve, Douglas earned a spot in the rotation as a redshirt sophomore.
From 2022-23, Douglas played in 26 games, starting five, and recorded 25 receptions for 326 yards and four touchdowns. Notably, he caught the go-ahead touchdown in FSU’s 2022 Cheez-It Bowl victory over Oklahoma. Known for his blocking, Douglas also contributed in that area for the Seminoles.
For the 2025 season, Florida State has two scholarship tight ends set to return: sophomore Landen Thomas and sophomore Amaree Williams. Jackson West, Brian Courtney, and Jerrale Powers all transferred out of the program.
The Seminoles also signed four-star tight end Chase Loftin during the Early Signing Period.
Douglas is the second transfer commitment for Florida State, joining former Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos.
