Arizona football secured a commitment from three-star 2025 quarterback recruit Sawyer Anderson, who had previously committed to Purdue, the player revealed on social media Monday.
The Dallas native decided to reopen his recruitment after changes in Purdue’s coaching staff, including the firing of offensive coordinator Graham Harrell and head coach Ryan Walters this fall.

Last week, Arizona hired Seth Doege as its new offensive coordinator. Doege, who has previously worked alongside Graham Harrell at both USC and Purdue, is also a Texas native and wasted no time bolstering the quarterbacks room.
Sawyer Anderson is ranked 64th among quarterbacks in the 2025 class by the 247 Sports composite. He had offers from Miami, Colorado, and Arizona State as well.
Anderson, a three-time state champion at Parish Episcopal School, threw for 5,134 yards and 49 touchdowns during his senior season in 2024, according to MaxPreps. He also ran for 432 yards on 69 carries, scoring six touchdowns on the ground.
He set the Dallas-area record for career passing yards with 14,674, according to MaxPreps. Anderson comes from a football family; his grandfather, Donny Anderson, was a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Green Bay Packers.
Anderson is the second quarterback recruit for Arizona in the 2025 class, joining three-star Luke Haugo from Higley. Current starting quarterback Noah Fifita, entering his redshirt sophomore season, remains a key focus for the program moving forward.
