Browns Running Back officially placed on IR

The Cleveland Browns have officially placed running back Nick Chubb on injured reserve after he suffered a broken foot in last week’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Chubb was seen leaving the stadium on crutches and wearing a walking boot. Head coach Kevin Stefanski mentioned that the injury requires a “shorter-term recovery time,” but with only three games remaining this season, Chubb will be out for the rest of the year.

Chubb’s career has been marked by overcoming adversity. After a season-ending knee injury last year against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he underwent two surgeries to repair his MCL and ACL. Despite the challenges, Chubb made an impressive recovery, walking up platform stairs as the Dawg Pound Captain in Week 17, even smashing a guitar to hype the crowd.

By summer, Chubb was back running sprints at training camp and returned to action in Week 7 this season. Before this latest injury, he had played in eight games, rushing for 332 yards and scoring four touchdowns.

To adjust the roster following Chubb’s injury, the Browns signed tight end Brenden Bates from the Jets’ practice squad to the active roster and running back Jacob Kibodi to the practice squad. Bates, a rookie from Kentucky, has played five games with the Jets and will wear No. 82 for the Browns.

Kibodi, also a rookie, was signed by the Saints and has spent time on their practice squad. He will wear No. 36. In a corresponding move, the Browns released tight end Cameron Latu from the practice squad.
