Two Minnesota Gophers Declare for NFL Draft

The Minnesota Gophers‘ season now only holds one goal: to give head coach P.J. Fleck a celebratory mayonnaise bath. They are set to play Virginia Tech in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. After that, however, the team will face roster changes, with two standout players heading to the pros.

Where do the Minnesota Gophers get picked?

Max Brosmer joined the Minnesota Gophers as their quarterback after transferring from New Hampshire, and quickly bonded with left tackle Aireontae Ersery. Ersery, one of the top tackles in the nation, is now preparing for the NFL Draft.

Ersery’s rise as an NFL Draft prospect has been anticipated all season, with several projections placing him as a potential first-round pick. Over the past three years, he has started 37 games for the Gophers, excelling particularly in pass protection, where he dominated against opposing pass rushers this season. He is expected to be selected on the opening night of the NFL Draft.

Cody Lindenberg, a native of Anoka, Minnesota, is also declaring for the NFL Draft. Though he had another year of eligibility, Lindenberg has chosen to turn pro.

During his five-year collegiate career, Lindenberg played in 38 games for Minnesota. This season, the Gophers linebacker recorded 94 total tackles in just 12 games, along with his second career sack and his first-ever interception.

While it’s uncertain where Lindenberg will be drafted, he has the potential to make an impact at the next level. With solid size and the opportunity to impress during pro day and combine workouts, he can enhance his draft stock.

Both players will provide P.J. Fleck with more success stories to highlight when recruiting new talent. Fleck can take pride in each player he helps reach the pro level, using their achievements as proof of his ability to develop NFL-caliber athletes.
