Seahawks Sign QB from the practice squad.
As Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith manages a knee injury, Seattle has added a new quarterback to the active roster ahead of Sunday’s game against the Vikings.
Jaren Hall, a former Vikings quarterback, will join the Seahawks’ 53-man roster.
Sam Howell is currently Smith’s backup, and with Hall on the active roster, he could serve as the emergency quarterback on game day. Hall would only be eligible to play if both Smith and Howell are injured or unable to play.
Smith fully participated in practice throughout the week and is not listed with an injury designation, though he’s not operating at full strength.
“I wouldn’t expect him to say he’s 100 percent, but he’s done everything he can to be prepared and in the right mindset for the game. However, I’m not sure how it will affect him,” said coach Mike Macdonald.
Hall, a fifth-round draft pick in 2023, started two games for the Vikings last season. He had a strong preseason performance but was released before the regular season began.
