With just two games left in the 2024 season, the Miami Dolphins are determined to finish strong. However, they will be without two-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Bradley Chubb, who will not be returning to the field. Despite weeks of practice, head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that Chubb is not yet ready to play.
When asked if the team’s slim playoff hopes influenced the decision, McDaniel firmly stated it was not a factor.
Chubb, considered one of the NFL’s top linemen when healthy, has struggled with injuries throughout his career. Since joining the Dolphins, he has appeared in 23 games and recorded 13.5 sacks, according to Pro Football Reference. However, injuries—including a season-ending knee issue last year—have limited his availability.
McDaniel praised Chubb’s commitment to his recovery, noting that the player has shown patience, open-mindedness, and growth. He expressed confidence that Chubb would return strong in the 2025 season.
In addition to Chubb, the Dolphins will also be without cornerback Kendall Fuller, who is sidelined due to a knee injury sustained in last week’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Thankfully, the injury is not considered serious.
On a brighter note, linebacker Jordyn Brooks, who dealt with knee and quadriceps issues last week, reported that he is “feeling good” and is expected to be available for Sunday’s game.
“I’m doing good. It was nothing serious,” Brooks said. “Going through adversity earlier in the season was tough, but it’s been a great experience playing with the guys I share the field with. I’m ready to finish strong.”
The Dolphins recently kept their playoff chances alive with a crucial 29-17 win over the 49ers. While their path to the postseason remains uncertain, Miami is focused on closing out the season with resilience and determination.
