Matt Rhule and Nebraska Score Game-Changing Transfer Portal Win for Next Season!

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are coming off a solid season, surpassing recent years’ struggles. With a 7-6 record, they capped it off by winning their first bowl game since 2015, defeating Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl. It also marked their first winning season since 2016, when they went 9-4.

One of the standout strengths of Nebraska’s team was its defense, which ranked 17th in points allowed per game (19.5) and 18th in total yards allowed (317.9). After an already impressive season, the defense is set for an even bigger boost as Matt Rhule and the Cornhuskers secured a commitment from transfer cornerback Marquis Groves-Killebrew.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Coming out of high school in 2022, 247Sports rated Marquis Groves-Killebrew as a four-star prospect, ranking him as the No. 15 cornerback and the No. 114 player in the nation. He initially signed with Texas A&M, where he recorded just two tackles during his freshman year. In 2023, he transferred to Louisville but didn’t register any statistics. However, Groves-Killebrew found his footing at Arizona in 2024, where he had his most productive season, totaling 26 tackles, four pass deflections, and one sack.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Groves-Killebrew is just the latest high-level defensive addition for Nebraska and Matt Rhule through the transfer portal. He joins a growing list of impressive newcomers, including four-star EDGE Williams Nwaneri, four-star linebacker Dasan McCullough, three-star cornerback Andrew Marshall, and three-star safety Justyn Rhett.
