Broncos silenced roster critics with a powerhouse showing of five All-Pro selections!

The 2024-25 season has been a major triumph for the Denver Broncos, marking their return to the postseason for the first time since their Super Bowl 50 win over the Carolina Panthers. Finishing with a 10-7 record, the Broncos thrived despite having a rookie quarterback and in Sean Payton’s second year as head coach.

Broncos may have made phenomenal decision making no moves at trade deadline

Ahead of the Wild Card round in the NFL Playoffs, the Associated Press unveiled their All-Pro first and second teams, honoring the league’s top performers at every position. Five Broncos players made the cut, the second-most in franchise history. The honored players are cornerback Patrick Surtain II, guard Quinn Meinerz, and wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. (as a punt returner) on the first team, with defensive lineman Zach Allen and edge rusher Nik Bonitto earning spots on the second team.

This marks the first time since 2016 that the Broncos have had three first-team All-Pros (Von Miller, Aqib Talib, and Chris Harris Jr.), and it’s the most All-Pro selections for Denver since 1996. With six All-Pro honors in a single season, the Broncos are setting a new benchmark for excellence.

Record-breaking year!

Superstar cornerback Patrick Surtain II has earned his second first-team All-Pro selection in just four seasons. With 49 out of 50 first-place votes, he joins Champ Bailey as the only two Broncos defensive backs with more than one first-team All-Pro nod—Bailey has three. Surtain proved why he’s considered the best corner in the NFL, shutting down top receivers like DK Metcalf, Mike Evans, Garrett Wilson, and Ja’Marr Chase. He’s now the favorite to win the 2024-25 NFL Defensive Player of the Year award.

Surtain allowed just 260 yards when aligned as a cornerback this season, the fewest of any CB who faced 50+ targets.

As for the second-team All-Pros, both Nik Bonitto and Zach Allen earned this honor for the first time in their careers, each setting career-highs in sacks. Bonitto finished with 13.5 sacks, the third-most among NFL defenders, and became the first Bronco since Von Miller and Bradley Chubb in 2018 to reach double-digit sacks. He also became the first defender since J.J. Watt in 2014 to score at least two defensive touchdowns in a season. Meanwhile, Allen posted 8.5 sacks and led all defensive linemen in pressures and quarterback hits.

Not bad for a team that was projected to win just 5.5 games and was considered one of the NFL’s worst before the season began. The Broncos are proving the doubters wrong with these incredible individual performances.
