Oregon Ducks Land Big Ten Elite Star in Stunning Move

Offensive lineman Emmanuel Pregnon, who entered the transfer portal, has decided to commit to the Oregon Ducks. During his time in the portal, Pregnon was reportedly considering offers from Oregon, Texas, and Tennessee, but ultimately chose the Ducks after strong recruiting efforts from head coach Dan Lanning and his staff.

Originally, Pregnon had announced he would return to USC for his final season of college football prior to their appearance in the Las Vegas Bowl. However, shortly after the game, he made the decision to enter the transfer portal.

Pregnon, who previously transferred from Wyoming to USC to join coach Lincoln Riley, had the Ducks in the mix before his commitment to USC. Now, two seasons later, he has found his way to Oregon.

Emmanuel Pregnon isn’t the only player transferring from USC to Oregon next season. Former USC defensive lineman Bear Alexander also committed to the Ducks on December 20.

Pregnon becomes the third offensive lineman in Oregon’s transfer portal class, joining Isaiah World, an offensive tackle from Nevada, and Alex Harkey, an offensive tackle from Texas State.

In addition, Oregon is adding several offensive and defensive players, including running back Makhi Hughes from Tulane, wide receiver Malik Benson from Florida State, and tight end Jamari Johnson from Louisville. On defense, the Ducks are bringing in safety Dillon Thieneman from Purdue and cornerback Theran Johnson from Northwestern.

With these nine transfers, Oregon’s class is currently ranked No. 9 in the country by On3’s Industry Rankings. Coach Dan Lanning has also found success in recruiting high school talent, securing the No. 4 class in the nation according to On3.

Oregon’s offensive line will be losing both offensive tackles, Josh Conerly Jr. and Ajani Cornelius, for the 2024 season. While Emmanuel Pregnon is expected to play inside under offensive line coach A’lique Terry, his experience will still be valuable in strengthening the Ducks’ front line.

Dante Moore is set to be the starting quarterback for Oregon in 2025, and he will be protected by veteran offensive linemen Pregnon and Isaiah World, both of whom will be in their final years of eligibility.

Moore will also have a wealth of offensive weapons at his disposal. At wide receiver, Oregon returns Evan Stewart and Justius Lowe, while Jeremiah McClellan, Kyler Kasper, and Jurrion Dickey will compete with Malik Benson for the No. 3 receiver spot. Additionally, the Ducks signed five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore, who could make an immediate impact.

Tight end Kenyon Sadiq is expected to see an expanded role following the departure of Terrance Ferguson. The addition of Jamari Johnson from the transfer portal also gives offensive coordinator Will Stein the flexibility to use multiple tight ends in his schemes.
