NY Rangers to Make Big Trade With Eastern Top Contenders

Detroit and New York, two teams that entered the season with high expectations, are now unexpectedly outside the playoff race. Could a trade help resolve their struggles?

It’s becoming clear that New York Rangers GM Chris Drury will likely be a seller as the March 7 trade deadline approaches.

After recently trading captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks and winger Kaapo Kakko to the Seattle Kraken, the Rangers might be looking to move another player this time a defenseman.

Ryan Lindgren could be on the move According to Remy Mastey of The Hockey News and Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli, Ryan Lindgren could be a target for the Detroit Red Wings as they look to strengthen their defense in their bid for a playoff spot under new head coach Todd McLellan.

«I wonder about Detroit. Is he that big of an upgrade, though? That’s the question I’d have to ask,» Seravalli said. «And I don’t know how big the Red Wings are gonna spend»

With the possibility of becoming an unrestricted free agent after this season, Ryan Lindgren’s future with the New York Rangers is uncertain, making him a prime candidate in trade discussions.

Currently, the Rangers are outside the playoff picture, and unless their fortunes change drastically, GM Chris Drury may continue to focus on moves that build for the future.

So far this season, Lindgren has tallied two goals, eight assists, and 10 points in 37 games, averaging 19 minutes and 51 seconds of ice time per game, but carrying a -4 rating. His affordable contract and dependable play could make him an appealing target for the Detroit Red Wings.

Unless the Rangers experience a dramatic turnaround, Drury is expected to remain a seller at the trade deadline, with Lindgren likely being one of the players moved.
