ECU Football Shocks the World With 17 Mid-Year Signees

GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina Head Football Coach Blake Harrell has announced 17 mid-year signees, bringing the 2025 class total to 38 players. Along with these new enrollees, 13 freshmen from the December signing period will join spring practice, starting March 23.

Jonathan Akins, DB, 5-11, 177, So., Madison, Fla. (Maryland)
Akins, a transfer from Maryland, enrolled at ECU in January 2025. He played in seven games over two seasons, recording four tackles. In high school, he had 73 tackles, nine interceptions, and 25 pass breakups, helping his team win a state title in 2021.

Justin Benton, DL, 6-1, 300, So., Atlanta, Ga. (Houston)
Benton transferred from Houston and joined ECU in January. He played in five games over two seasons, with four tackles and one tackle for loss. In high school, he helped his team reach the Georgia 7A playoffs and was named Region Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kelondraus Crowell, DB, 5-11, 165, So., Lebanon, Tenn. (Indianapolis)
Crowell, a transfer from Indianapolis, enrolled at ECU in January 2025. In 2024, he recorded 51 tackles, 5 interceptions, and 4 pass breakups, earning First-Team All-GLVC honors. In high school, he was named Region 4-6A Special Teams Player of the Year and earned All-Midstate honors as a kick returner.

Kendrick DuJour, DL, 6-5, 225, Jr., Jonesboro, Ga. (Sam Houston)
DuJour, a transfer from Sam Houston, joined ECU in January 2025. He has 44 career tackles, 12.5 TFLs, and 7.0 sacks. In 2024, he had 24 tackles, 4.5 TFLs, and 3.0 sacks. At N.C. Central in 2023, he posted 20 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

Parker Jenkins, RB, 5-11, 200, Jr., Houston, Texas (Houston)
A mid-year transfer to East Carolina in January 2025, Jenkins played two seasons at Houston, rushing for 498 yards and three touchdowns in 18 games. He was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after a standout performance in 2023, leading the team in rushing with 464 yards. Jenkins was also an Academic All-Big 12 honoree.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tyler Johnson, WR, 6-0, 183, So., Martinsville, Va. (Penn State)
Transferred to East Carolina from Penn State in January 2025, Johnson played in 10 games in 2024 but did not record stats. A four-star recruit in high school, he was a top receiver in Virginia, earning multiple all-district and all-region honors.

DeJuan Lacy, RB, 5-9, 200, So., Fort Worth, Texas (Garden City CC)
Lacy joined East Carolina in January 2025 after rushing for 1,119 yards and 14 touchdowns at Garden City CC. He was an NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American and had seven 100-yard games. In high school, he totaled 3,941 yards and 30 touchdowns over his career.

Kyle Long, OL, 6-6, 328, Sr., St. Louis, Mo. (Maryland)
Transferred to East Carolina in January 2025. Played 20 games at Maryland, including six starts. Helped block for one of the Big Ten’s top offenses in 2023.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jordy Lowery, DB, 5-11, 190, Jr., Bartow, Fla. (Western Carolina)
Transferred to East Carolina in January 2025. Earned All-America honors in 2024 with six interceptions and 51 tackles over 23 games.

Payton Mangrum, WR, 5-11, 201, Gr., Greenville, S.C. (South Carolina)
Transferred to East Carolina in January 2025. Played 44 games at South Carolina, catching six passes and earning academic honors.

Xavier McIver, DL, 6-3, 320, Sr., Cheraw, S.C. (UT-Martin)
Transferred to East Carolina in January 2025. Played 44 games over four seasons at UT-Martin, recording 35 tackles and 2.0 TFLs.

Triston O’Brien, LS, 6-3, 225, Sr., Jefferson, Ohio (Indiana State)
O’Brien transferred to East Carolina in January 2025 from Indiana State. He played in 12 games as a long snapper, earning one tackle in his career. In 2024, he snapped for 74 punts and contributed to field goals and PATs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jaquaize Pettaway, WR, 6-0, 194, Jr., Houston, Texas (Oklahoma)
Pettaway joined East Carolina in January 2025 from Oklahoma. He appeared in 20 games, catching 16 passes for 157 yards. In 2024, he had 87 yards on five catches, including a career-high 79 yards against Tennessee. He was a four-star recruit out of high school.

Rion Roseborough, DL, 6-2, 315, So., Greenville, N.C. (Towson)
Roseborough transferred to East Carolina in January 2025. In 2024 at Towson, he played all 12 games, registering nine tackles and three blocked kicks. He was a standout running back in high school.

Leivi Semaia, OL, 6-4, 340, Jr., Torrance, Calif. (El Camino College)
Semaia transferred to East Carolina in January 2025 from El Camino College. He played in 11 games each season (2021 and 2024), helping his team average over 380 yards per game. He also played football in high school, recording over 100 tackles.

Cooper Trnavsky, OL, 6-5, 295, Sr., Spartanburg, S.C. (Newberry College)
Trnavsky joined East Carolina in January 2025 after three years at Newberry College. He appeared in 29 games, helping the team total over 10,000 yards of offense. In 2024, he played 10 games, contributing to a 3,002-yard offense.

Teagan Wilk, DB, 6-0, 190, Gr., Berwick, Pa. (Houston)
Wilk transferred to East Carolina from Houston in January 2025. He played in 38 games at ECU, recording 100 tackles and 6.5 TFLs. He had a career-high six tackles in 2023 and two career interceptions. In high school, he was an all-state selection with 17 career interceptions.
