“It really means a lot because I used to always watch them on TV, and now they’re offering me and wanting me to come play for them,” Shumaker said to Touchdown Alabama. “I just thank God for the opportunity.”

The sophomore also shared his admiration for Alabama as a program.

“From the outside looking in, it looks like a great program,” he said. “I know a lot of players in the NFL who came from Alabama, which means they’re doing something right.”

Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 280 pounds, Shumaker impressed during his sophomore season at Choctaw County, even though he played in just five full games. He finished the season with 59 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, one touchdown, and three pass breakups. His performance showcased his dominance, combining strength with the ability to shed blocks and use active hands.
