Pair of Oregon Ducks stars boost NFL draft stock at Senior Bowl

After a standout 2024 season that included a No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff, a Rose Bowl appearance, and a quarterback who was a Heisman Trophy finalist, it’s no surprise that the Oregon Ducks are expecting several players to be drafted into the NFL this spring.

However, when these players will be selected is a different matter.

Unlike previous years, the Ducks’ 2025 draft class doesn’t feature many obvious first-round prospects. While players like left tackle Josh Conerly Jr. and defensive tackle Derrick Harmon are expected to be picked on Day 1, the rest of Oregon’s draft hopefuls are projected to go in the middle-to-late rounds.

That said, a few players could be altering that perception at this week’s Reese’s Senior Bowl.

Oregon wide receiver Tez Johnson and linebacker Jeffrey Bassa have been two of the standout performers in Mobile, Alabama, according to CBS Sports’ Cooper Petagna. Johnson has impressed with his on-field play, despite his lackluster measurables at the Senior Bowl, earning attention from social media. Petagna noted the buzz surrounding Johnson’s performances, particularly his one-on-one matchups.

Meanwhile, Bassa has shined defensively, not only for his play but also for his leadership. He’s been seen leading huddles and will wear the green-dot helmet during Saturday’s Senior Bowl. Petagna highlighted Bassa’s strong presence both on and off the field.

As the draft process continues with the NFL Combine and pro days, these players will have more opportunities to showcase their skills. But early on, Johnson and Bassa are already making a strong case for themselves as potential NFL prospects.
