Eagles Make Big Announcement Ahead of Super Bowl as Jalen Hurts Clears Air on ‘Straightjacket’ Comments

Been looking forward to the 2025 Pro Bowl? Well, get ready for some unexpected drama! The Pro Bowl selections this year are pretty exciting, with both the Chiefs and Eagles featuring a number of star players. But on February 2nd, the Eagles made an announcement that’s shaken things up.

On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles took to Instagram to share some surprising news: “🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨 The Philadelphia Eagles’ appearance at this year’s Pro Bowl Games has officially been canceled.” This news totally blindsided Eagles fans, especially since everything seemed set up for them. To make things even more wild, none of the Eagles or Chiefs players chosen for the Pro Bowl will actually be participating in the game in Orlando. Why? Because the Super Bowl players are focusing on preparing for the big game and getting ready for the Lombardi Trophy—so they’re getting a pass on the Pro Bowl.

Plus, there’s always the risk of injury during the Pro Bowl, and that’s the last thing anyone wants when they’re gearing up for the Super Bowl. A serious injury could even prevent players from being able to take the field when it truly matters. Before all of this, six Eagles players were set to participate in the Pro Bowl: running back Saquon Barkley, linebacker Zack Baun, defensive tackle Jalen Carter, guard Landon Dickerson, offensive tackle Lane Johnson, and center Cam Jurgens.

On the other side, Kansas City had five players selected: center Creed Humphrey, defensive lineman Chris Jones, tight end Travis Kelce, and offensive guards Trey Smith and Joe Thuney. In the end, all 11 of these players had to withdraw from the Pro Bowl. However, the Chiefs are still showing up with plenty of Pro Bowl spirit for the fans! The Eagles, on the other hand, haven’t really given a clear explanation as to why they’re skipping the Pro Bowl.

Amid all this, Jalen Hurts also found himself in the spotlight for some comments he made. While he hasn’t spoken out about the Pro Bowl situation yet, he did address his controversial ‘straightjacket’ remarks.

What did Jalen Hurts mean by ‘straightjacket’ comments?

After last week’s game, Jalen Hurts jokingly said head coach Nick Sirianni let him out of his “straightjacket” during his NFC Championship performance. The comment raised some eyebrows, but Hurts clarified on Friday it was all in fun. Sirianni also weighed in, saying Hurts was just having fun and that they’ve been winning in different ways this season. Despite a reportedly “fractured” relationship between them earlier in the year, Hurts and Sirianni seem to be on good terms now. With the Eagles out of the Pro Bowl, fans are sure to appreciate Hurts’ on-field talent. What’s your take on this?
