The Washington Commanders spent the season discovering what it feels like to have a potential superstar quarterback in Jayden Daniels, who’s been the driving force behind the team’s rise. However, their NFC Championship Game loss to the Philadelphia Eagles highlighted the gap between them and true Super Bowl contenders.

With one of the largest cap spaces in the league, Washington has a prime opportunity to enhance their roster and build a championship-caliber team, with Daniels leading the way. After making solid moves last offseason, now’s the time for the Commanders to make a bold splash in free agency.
The 33rd Team has urged Washington to target Cincinnati Bengals star Tee Higgins as a major upgrade at receiver. Marcus Mosher wrote, “With nearly $100 million in cap space, the Commanders are set to be aggressive, and Higgins is the top free-agent target. Pairing him with Terry McLaurin would give Washington the playmaking firepower needed to compete for the NFC title next season.”
Optimizing Daniels’ potential by improving the passing game is crucial, and Higgins, who posted 911 yards and 10 touchdowns in just 12 games, would be a massive upgrade over current receivers Dyami Brown and Noah Brown—both set to hit free agency. While Higgins may be hesitant to play second fiddle after being overshadowed by Ja’Marr Chase, he could still benefit from a dynamic receiving duo, with McLaurin alongside him.
If there’s any lingering hesitation, the Commanders can easily silence it by setting the market for receivers. With their ample cap space, money isn’t an issue, and if overpaying for Higgins helps propel Washington to the top, so be it. No one will mind the price tag if Higgins is lifting a Super Bowl ring at the end of the season.
