Thirteen months ago, Corvallis was engulfed in turmoil.
Head coach Jonathan Smith departed for Michigan State, followed by Aidan Chiles, the Beavers’ quarterback heir apparent, and starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, who transferred to Florida State. Starting running back Damien Martinez moved to Miami, and starting wide receiver Silas Bolden left for Texas.
At the same time, recruits and their families looked skeptically at the Beavers. From their viewpoint, with no conference affiliation, no long-term broadcasting deal, and a program shaken by uncertainty both on the coaching staff and within the team, how could Oregon State help them reach the NFL?
Yesterday, on National Signing Day, the Beavers closed that difficult chapter. The university announced the completion of their 2025 signing class, with twenty student-athletes officially committing to the team, several of whom have already enrolled and will participate in spring practices.
