Former Nebraska wide receiver Jordan Westerkamp has been appointed as the new wide receivers coach for the College of DuPage Chaparrals. Westerkamp, who played for Nebraska from 2012 to 2016, made his mark by appearing in 48 games and recording 167 receptions for 2,474 yards and 18 touchdowns. He earned second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2015 and third-team All-Big Ten honors in 2016.
After going undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft, Westerkamp signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent but was later waived due to an injury. He also had stints with the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts, the AAF’s Atlanta Legends, and the XFL’s DC Defenders.
Westerkamp is best remembered for his unforgettable Hail Mary catch in 2013, when he hauled in a pass from Ron Kellogg III to win the game against Northwestern with just four seconds left on the clock.
He joins a College of DuPage program fresh off its fourth consecutive NJCAA Division III football championship, having recently defeated Louisburg (N.C.) College in the Red Grange Bowl. The Chaparrals’ achievement places them among an elite group of programs that have won four straight national titles, joining the ranks of North Dakota State, Augustana, and Carroll College.
