Ex-St. Bonaventure manager Joins Oregon State Coaching Staff

Kwame Oduro has joined the Oregon State women’s soccer coaching staff, as announced by Head Coach Caroline Kelly on Friday.

“Bringing Kwame onto our coaching staff is an exciting step forward for our program. His expertise, passion, and dedication are exactly what we need as we continue to grow and move ahead,” said Coach Kelly. “I’m delighted to welcome him and his family to the Oregon State community, and I look forward to all we will achieve together.”

Oduro arrives in Corvallis after spending 10 years as the head coach of the St. Bonaventure men’s soccer team, where the Bonnies achieved 49 victories, six Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team selections, two United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors, and four A-10 Academic selections. During the 2024 season, his team had a 2-2-1 record against NCAA Tournament-bound teams. Notably, in 2017, his team defeated the then-ranked No. 17 VCU, making the A-10 Playoffs for the first time in a decade.

Oduro has seen nine of his players move on to professional contracts, with many others receiving professional trials.

“I’m very grateful to Coach Caroline, Coach Livv, and Jeff Macy for welcoming my family and me to Corvallis. I’m excited to be part of the Oregon State University family,” Oduro said. “After an incredible 10 years as a head coach, I’m eager to take on a new challenge. I’m impressed by the program’s strong history, talented athletes, and commitment to winning championships. I look forward to contributing to the team’s success, supporting our players’ development, and being a part of the OSU community. Go Beavs!”

Before leading St. Bonaventure, Oduro spent four years as an assistant at Canisius College, helping the team rank as high as No. 30 in scoring offense, with several top-25 votes. In 2014, Canisius set a school record for wins in a season, which included eight shutouts, and earned two NSCAA Academic Team Awards for maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
