PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed veteran tight end Donald Parham to a one-year deal, the team announced. This marks the first veteran contract the team has made this offseason, excluding Futures/Reserve agreements.
Parham, 27, spent the previous season on the Denver Broncos‘ practice squad. The undrafted player from Stetson University originally signed with the Detroit Lions in 2019 and later joined the Washington Commanders in the same year. In 2020, he played for the Arlington Renegades in the XFL before signing with the Los Angeles Chargers that summer.
From 2020 to 2023, Parham played 47 games with the Chargers, starting in 23 of them. He recorded 67 receptions for 764 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Now, Parham will join Pat Freiermuth, Darnell Washington, and Connor Heyward in the Steelers’ tight end group. Last year, the team had four tight ends on the active roster, including MyCole Pruitt, who is now a free agent. With Parham joining, Pittsburgh adds a younger option to the position.
The Steelers are unlikely to focus heavily on the tight end position this offseason, especially after extending Freiermuth last year. With Washington continuing his development in the offense, the team appears to have most of the tight end positions settled.
