Mets Sends 4 Words Message After Soto’s First-Hit Homer.
This offseason, the New York Mets made a historic move by signing star outfielder Juan Soto to a 15-year, $765 million contract. In a bold move, they snatched the four-time All-Star away from the New York Yankees, securing their top target in free agency.

In his first at-bat as a Met during the spring training opener on Saturday, Soto, who was hitting behind Francisco Lindor, the 2024 National League MVP runner-up, stepped up to the plate with one out in the first inning. He faced Houston Astros’ left-handed pitcher Colton Gordon and launched a 2-1 fastball over the left-centerfield wall for a home run. The Mets then posted a simple message on X: “GET USED TO IT.”
Juan Soto hit a career-high 41 home runs last season with the Yankees, which contributed to his third-place finish in American League MVP voting. This season, he’s projected to bat second for the Mets, where he’ll offer significant protection for Francisco Lindor, who is expected to bat leadoff.
Soto, known for his ability to handle left-handed pitching, didn’t miss a beat from last year. As a left-handed hitter, he posted an impressive 171 OPS+ in 226 plate appearances against left-handed pitchers, showcasing his dominance against southpaws.
At just 26 years old, Juan Soto is likely entering the prime of his MLB career. Already a four-time All-Star, five-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and one-time batting champion, Soto has the potential to rank among the all-time greats when his career is over. What he truly aims for, however, is another World Series title, having already won one in 2019 with the Washington Nationals in just his second season.
