Sean McVay Adds Former Patriots OC for Rams staff.
The 2025 NFL offseason is heating up with drama around the Rams, as they may trade Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford. Meanwhile, Sean McVay has finalized his coaching staff, bringing in former Patriots OC Alex Van Pelt.

After just one season as the Patriots’ offensive leader, Alex Van Pelt was replaced by Josh McDaniels as Mike Vrabel’s staff reshuffled. But he quickly found a new role with Sean McVay’s Rams, joining as a senior offensive assistant focusing on the defensive side.
“Rams have added former Patriots offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt to their coaching staff,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on X (formerly Twitter).
Known for his work with quarterbacks, Alex Van Pelt will take on a unique role with the Rams, shifting to the defensive side. He’ll help provide insights into opposing offenses and their strategies, offering a fresh perspective for McVay’s staff.
While McVay is an experienced head coach, adding veterans like Van Pelt strengthens the team’s coaching depth. With the staff now in place, McVay and the Rams are focused on shaping their roster for the upcoming season.
