The Phillies start roster cuts, Sending Third Baseman and others.
Spring training is reaching the stage where regulars and MLB-ready players need more reps, which means prospects further from the big leagues start heading to minor league camp. Today, the Phillies made some of those cuts.

No surprises here, especially with a catcher and a reliever—someone has to cover innings as starters ramp up, and plenty of arms need catchers in camp. The biggest names in this round of cuts are Aidan Miller and Justin Crawford, two of the Phillies‘ top prospects. Their time in big-league camp was valuable, giving them exposure to MLB competition.
Both had solid moments, but it was clear they could use a bit more seasoning in the minors. Facing big-league velocity and breaking stuff gave them a taste of what’s ahead when they eventually make it to Philadelphia.
They’re not far off, though, and the Phillies have plenty of reasons to be excited about their futures.
