Jordan Reid of ESPN recently released his two-round mock draft, and it shows the Denver Broncos addressing two key positions of need. The Broncos have several gaps on their roster, including at running back, wide receiver, tight end, linebacker, and safety. While they can’t fill all these needs through the draft, they can make significant progress. With the 20th pick, Reid predicts the Broncos will select Nick Emmanwori, a safety from South Carolina. Although Brandon Jones had an impressive first season with the team, P.J. Locke struggled in a starting role and is expected to be replaced.

Emmanwori, a three-year starter at South Carolina, recorded 88 tackles, two pass deflections, four interceptions, and two pick-sixes last season. ESPN ranks him as the top safety prospect and the 29th overall prospect. Standing 6’3″ and weighing 220 pounds, Emmanwori ran a 4.38 in the 40-yard dash and boasts a 43-inch vertical jump, the highest among all prospects. His athleticism allows him to excel in various areas—stopping the run, covering over-the-top, and matching up against tight ends in man coverage. With his size, range, tackling ability, and hard-hitting nature, Emmanwori is considered the best safety in this year’s draft and would be an ideal replacement for Locke.
With the 51st pick, Reid has the Broncos selecting tight end Elijah Arroyo from Miami. The Broncos’ tight ends contributed just 51 receptions for 483 yards last season, highlighting the need for a consistent playmaker at the position in a Sean Payton offense. Arroyo recorded 35 catches for 590 yards and seven touchdowns, while also throwing a seven-yard touchdown pass in his only attempt. While his stats may seem modest, it’s important to consider that Miami’s offense distributed the ball to five players with over 500 yards. Arroyo started all 13 games for the Hurricanes, earning second-team All-ACC honors. At 6’5″ and 250 pounds, he has the size and versatility to both block effectively and make plays as a receiver. Although he has dealt with injuries in the past, Arroyo was healthy this season and showed steady improvement. ESPN ranks him as the fourth tight end prospect and 48th overall. If the Broncos manage to secure two young, high-potential starters at critical positions, this draft could be a big win for them. Here’s hoping they can make it happen.
