Philly’s Powerhouse in the Making: New Top 30 Prospects List

The Philadelphia Phillies are renowned for their powerhouse MLB roster, but their farm system is also brimming with exciting prospects ready to make an impact in the coming years.

MLB Pipeline has started unveiling its 2025 Top 30 Prospects rankings for each team, and while there weren’t many surprises for the Phillies, the list reinforced the growing excitement surrounding their top prospects.

The top five prospects are: ace pitcher Andrew Painter in the top spot, followed by shortstop Aidan Miller, outfielder Justin Crawford, catcher Eduardo Tait, and pitcher Moises Chace.

Despite frequent trade rumors surrounding this group, the Phillies have the option to keep them in their system and build a well-rounded future core. There’s a promising prospect for every position, and all of them are performing well in the minors.

While adding a star to bolster the team’s current World Series push is enticing, it’s crucial for Philadelphia to focus on the future, especially with their established players moving deeper into their 30s.

Chace, ranked No. 23 last year, made a significant leap in the rankings. After being traded from the Baltimore Orioles in the Gregory Soto deal, he made six starts and impressed with a 16.0 K/9 rate over four Double-A starts.\

The next five prospects on the list include outfielders Dante Nori and Griffin Burkholder, pitcher Mick Abel, second baseman Devin Saltiban, and outfielder Gabriel Rincones Jr.

Abel, who struggled with a 6.36 ERA in 2024, continues to slide in the rankings due to control issues. However, at 23 years old, there’s still plenty of time for improvement, and the Phillies will be hoping for progress this season.

Ranked No. 11 through No. 15 are pitcher Jean Cabrera, pitcher Seth Johnson, infielder Aroon Escobar, shortstop Bryan Rincon, and third baseman Carson DeMartini. Johnson is the biggest riser in this group, jumping from No. 14 to No. 12 after being acquired in the Soto trade. He has had a solid start to spring training, posting 1.1 scoreless innings in his first appearance.

Rounding out the top 20 are outfielder John Spikerman, pitchers Mavis Graves, Alex McFarlane, Wen-Hui Pan, and outfielder TJayy Walton. Graves, who ended last year at No. 24, has seen a significant rise after posting a 3.64 ERA and 12.5 K/9 last season, looking like a great find from the sixth round.

From No. 21 to No. 25, the list includes pitchers Christian McGowan and Michael Mercado, infielder Otto Kemp, outfielder Hendry Mendez, and catcher Alirio Ferrebus.

The final five prospects include Carter Mathison, pitcher Micah Ottenbreit, catcher Caleb Ricketts, outfielder Dylan Campbell, and pitcher Griff McGarry.
