Lions Land Big Ten Star in Latest Dane Brugler Mock Draft

The Detroit Lions are looking for athletic, versatile defensive linemen to join their young core, which now has a new position coach.

In his latest NFL mock draft, draft analyst Dane Brugler highlights the Lions’ focus on a defensive tackle with a unique skill set and significant potential.

Kenneth Grant, a former Michigan player, has impressed with his athleticism and ability to stop the run. While he may not be as refined as a pass rusher, many believe he will attract attention from opposing offensive linemen.

As Brugler noted, “At 6-4, 331, Grant is a massive player with some rare traits. Do teams wish the tape was more consistent? Absolutely. But the NFL is a league for big men, and there are few with Grant’s combination of size and talent in this class.”

Grant, when discussing what makes him stand out from other prospects, pointed to his football IQ and athleticism.

“I think I’m more athletic than some of these guys,” Grant said when asked by reporters in Indianapolis. “There are some good athletes in this class, but I’m intelligent and know a lot about football. That’s what makes me different.”

NFL Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah also praised Grant’s athleticism during a recent draft videoconference.

“You’re just going to see an athlete that’s a freak,” Jeremiah stated. “He’s not yet a polished rusher, but that’s all ahead of him. For now, he’s someone who will dominate against the run and eat blocks.”

During his media session at the combine, Grant was also asked which NFL players he admired.

“Definitely Dexter Lawrence, Vita Vea,” Grant said. “I like those big guys, bulldozers right there.”
