DeAndre Hopkins, a five-time All-Pro wide receiver, has signed a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens worth $5 million, with the potential to increase to $6 million, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Last season, Hopkins played 10 games for the Kansas City Chiefs, recording 41 receptions for 437 yards (averaging 10.7 yards per catch) and four touchdowns. He joined the Chiefs in October via a trade from the Tennessee Titans. One standout performance came in Week 9 during Kansas City’s 27-20 overtime victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where Hopkins hauled in eight passes for 86 yards (10.8 average) and scored twice. The Chiefs acquired him for just a conditional fifth-round pick, leaving some Pittsburgh Steelers fans puzzled as to why their team didn’t pursue him.
The Steelers had been considered a potential destination for Hopkins in this year’s free agency period, but no interest was reported. Instead, Pittsburgh secured their top wide receiver, DK Metcalf, through a major trade with the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night.
At 32, Hopkins is in the later stages of his career but remains a reliable contributor. A one-year deal worth $5 million, potentially rising to $6 million, is a reasonable investment for the Ravens.
Hopkins now bolsters a Ravens receiving group that features Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman as starting wideouts, alongside tight ends Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely. The trio of Flowers, Bateman, and Hopkins forms a strong wide receiver unit.
Over his 12-year career, Hopkins has amassed 984 receptions, 12,965 yards (13.2 yards per catch), and 83 touchdowns. He’ll now have the opportunity to catch passes from two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson and possibly chase a Super Bowl ring after falling short against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
