Zaccheaus, who spent last season with the Washington Commanders, has also played for the Atlanta Falcons (2019-2022) and the Philadelphia Eagles (2023). Over his NFL career, he has appeared in 89 games, making 30 starts and recording 149 receptions for 1,998 yards and 13 touchdowns.
His best season came last year with the Commanders, when he posted career highs of 45 receptions and 506 receiving yards. After watching how Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson transformed the Detroit Lions’ offense, Zaccheaus is eager to be part of the system being built in Chicago.
Zaccheaus expressed his excitement by acknowledging the success and creativity of the coach’s past offenses. “From a distance, you can see how effective and productive his offenses have been, along with the innovative play-calling,” he said. A native of Plainfield, New Jersey, Zaccheaus played college football at the University of Virginia. Over 50 games with the Cavaliers, he amassed 250 receptions, 2,753 yards, and 22 touchdowns.
