Tracy Morgan wasn’t the sole person to exit Monday night’s New York Knicks game prematurely.
After Morgan left his courtside seat at Madison Square Garden due to what was later identified as food poisoning, the Knicks’ matchup against the Miami Heat concluded with just two referees officiating.
According to Fred Katz of The Athletic, who reported on Tuesday, official Scott Foster was unable to complete the game because of a calf injury, and there’s no set timeline for when he might return.

Scott Foster, 57, ranks among the NBA’s most experienced referees, nearing his third decade in the role. Monday’s game was his 123rd officiating a Knicks matchup, with the team holding a 56-67 record under his watch.
Though he’s earned a somewhat infamous standing among players, Foster has officiated 17 NBA Finals, including the most recent series last summer featuring the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks. In recent Knicks history, he’s particularly remembered for swiftly ejecting Josh Hart during a game in Chicago last April. Hart was sent off after unintentionally kicking Javonte Green, prompting Foster to issue a Flagrant One foul and an ejection.
“I’m clearly off balance. My leg goes up before I even see him,” Hart explained at the time, as reported by Stefan Bondy of the New York Post. “But props to Scott Foster for believing my athletic skills are so elite that I could decide to kick someone in a split second.”
With Foster sidelined by injury, Tre Maddox and Evan Scott took over to officiate the remainder of Monday’s game. Their efforts weren’t heavily tested in the fourth quarter, as the Knicks (43-24) built a commanding lead following a 24-6 surge to close the third. New York ultimately secured a 116-95 victory.
