Steelers Make Splash with Southeastern QB on the Radar

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers are actively scouting quarterbacks for the NFL Draft and might be signaling their top target. After hosting Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart for a top 30 pre-draft visit, the Steelers have found themselves on a “shortlist” of teams closely monitoring the potential first-round talent, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

On the latest episode of The Insiders, Rapoport revealed that the Steelers are among a select group of teams dedicating significant time to Dart during this draft process.

“The Steelers are one of the teams who have spent a lot of time with Jaxson Dart,” Rapoport shared. “The Saints, Giants, and Browns are also heavily involved. These are the teams seriously considering him.”

Although Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan weren’t present at Dart’s Pro Day or the pre-event dinner, they did meet with him at the NFL Combine and Senior Bowl.

With the 2025 NFL Draft approaching, Pittsburgh is expected to select a quarterback, possibly anywhere from the 21st pick in the first round to the end of the draft. Along with Dart, the team has expressed interest in other QBs like Texas’ Quinn Ewers, Ohio State’s Will Howard, Louisville’s Tyler Shough, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, and Notre Dame’s Riley Leonard. Dart, however, remains the most likely first-round option — though it’s uncertain whether he’ll be available when Pittsburgh picks.

Could Dart be the Steelers’ first-round choice? It seems they’re seriously considering it.
