Steelers Steal the Show with Massive Veteran Signing

The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed an experienced offensive lineman, Calvin Anderson, to a two-year contract to bolster their front-line depth. The announcement came on Monday, marking his return to the team’s active roster, where he was initially signed last September. During the regular season, Anderson played in four games, accumulating 12 snaps between Weeks 5 and 10, before a groin injury sidelined him to the reserve/injured list in December.

In early January, the Steelers opened Anderson’s 21-day return window ahead of their Wild Card playoff matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. He was activated for that game and stepped onto the field for 29 snaps after Mason McCormick was sidelined with a hand injury.

Anderson, a former college player at Rice and Texas, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots in 2019. Though he didn’t play in his rookie year, he later joined the Denver Broncos in 2020, appearing in 41 games through the 2022 season. In 2023, Anderson returned to the Patriots, playing in five games before a heart contusion forced him onto injured reserve. It was later disclosed that he had also contracted malaria during a charitable trip to Nigeria that summer.
