Michigan State kicked off the first round of official visits for Top Prospect.
Michigan State became the first program to host offensive tackle Kelvin Obot for an official visit this weekend, marking the beginning of what’s expected to be a busy recruitment for the rising prospect. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound lineman out of Texas is drawing serious attention from Power Five programs across the country, but it was the Spartans who secured the first official look.

Obot arrived on campus Friday and spent the weekend touring facilities, meeting with coaches, and connecting with current players. According to sources close to the program, the visit went “extremely well,” with offensive line coach Jim Michalczik playing a key role in the experience. “Coach Michalczik really broke things down for me. He’s big on development, and that’s something I’m looking for,” Obot said following the visit. “I felt the energy here. It’s real.”
Ranked as a top-25 offensive tackle in the 2025 class by several recruiting outlets, Obot’s length, athleticism, and physicality have made him a priority target for schools in both the Big Ten and SEC. He’s expected to take visits to Florida, Oklahoma, and USC later this spring, but Michigan State has now set the bar. Head coach Jonathan Smith and his staff are aiming to rebuild the offensive front with high-upside prospects, and Obot fits the mold. With this visit in the books, the Spartans have made an early, strong impression in what’s shaping up to be a competitive recruitment.
