Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame working to flip 5-star Ohio State commit

The Notre Dame football program has dramatically revitalized its recruiting efforts recently. Once a source of concern for fans questioning the state of affairs in South Bend, the team’s fortunes have shifted with a string of high-profile commitments, including 4-star wide receiver Bubba Frazier. This recruiting surge has energized supporters and fueled head coach Marcus Freeman’s ambitions.

With the Fighting Irish now boasting a Top 5 recruiting class according to most services, Freeman is setting his sights on 5-star receiver Jamier Brown, who is currently committed to Ohio State. Can Notre Dame convince Brown to switch allegiances?

The Irish are making a strong case. They took a significant step by hosting Brown for an unofficial visit on Thursday. The focus now is on persuading him that South Bend offers a better future than Columbus.

Could Notre Dame football really flip this 5-star from Ohio State?

Per On3’s Industry Rankings, Jamier Brown is Ohio’s top player, the No. 1 Athlete in the 2027 class, and the No. 4 overall prospect. Flipping him from Ohio State would be a monumental win for Notre Dame.

Brown’s recent unofficial visit to Notre Dame on Thursday wasn’t his first; he also visited in September and has been exploring other programs, including an unofficial visit to Texas just days before.

Notre Dame appears to have a real shot at swaying Brown from the Buckeyes. With his signing still over a year away, Coach Marcus Freeman and his staff have ample time to make their case. Another playoff appearance could further bolster their efforts.
