The Philadelphia Phillies announced on Sunday that outfielder Brandon Marsh has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.
To fill the roster spot, the team has called up outfielder Cal Stevenson from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
The move, retroactive to April 17, comes as Marsh is enduring one of the toughest stretches of his Major League career. The 27-year-old Georgia native is currently slashing just .095/.220/.167 with an OPS+ of 12 for the 2025 season.
So far this year, Marsh has posted a -0.8 bWAR, a stark contrast to his strong performances in previous seasons, when he logged 3.4 bWAR in 2023 and 3.1 in 2022.
After notching three hits in the second game of the season against the Nationals and one more in the series finale, Marsh has gone hitless since March 31.
As the left-handed center fielder recovers, he’ll aim to return to the form that made him a key contributor in past seasons.
Meanwhile, Stevenson—who has also struggled in 16 games at Lehigh Valley—gets another opportunity. Despite his recent slump, the 28-year-old posted a .907 OPS with the IronPigs over a larger stretch in 2024. He was in the mix for a roster spot during spring training but didn’t make the team after recording a .646 OPS in camp.
