Talented CB lands commitment to Oregon State beavers

Easter Sunday turned out to be a productive day for Oregon State, as the Beavers landed their second commitment in quick succession. Former James Madison defensive back Tyjai Hopper announced his decision to transfer to OSU, joining fellow transfer Will Larkins in committing to the program.

Hopper was a standout at Alpharetta High School in Georgia, where he racked up 164 tackles and six interceptions, earning a 3-star rating. Initially committed to UConn, he later flipped to James Madison, ultimately choosing the Dukes over offers from schools like Ole Miss, Missouri, Colorado, Indiana, and Oregon State.

He redshirted his freshman year at JMU, not seeing any game time. Now standing at 6-foot-1 and 192 pounds, Hopper brings solid size and pedigree—his cousin, Ty’Ron Hopper, currently plays in the NFL for the Green Bay Packers.

With four years of eligibility remaining, Hopper will add depth and talent to a Beavers secondary that’s aiming to take a big step forward this season.
