Tracey Bershers, a 6-foot-2 transfer from UAB, averaged 6.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game last season, shooting 43.5% from the field, 43.4% from three, and 72.2% from the free-throw line. She came off the bench, averaging 17.3 minutes in 32 games for the Blazers.

Head coach Dawn Plitzuweit praised Bershers’ versatility, noting her ability to handle the ball in transition, shoot from beyond the arc, and defend various forwards. “Tracey brings a veteran voice from her valuable experiences,” Plitzuweit said, expressing excitement about her contribution and the unique opportunity to play alongside her sister Zoey, an incoming freshman.

Bershers is poised to fill the role left by veteran Annika Stewart, who averaged 8.5 points and 2.1 rebounds last season and is now out of eligibility. Stewart shot 40.8% from three, making 1.2 per game, while Bershers made 1.8 threes per game at 43.4%, with a similar physical profile, making her a natural fit as a frontcourt player off the bench.

The Bershers family is prominent in women’s college basketball. Tracey, who started her career at Oklahoma State, played alongside her sister Sara at UAB for two seasons and will now join her sister Zoey at Minnesota.

Bershers is Minnesota’s second transfer portal addition this offseason, following Kansas State guard Brylee Glenn. The 2025 transfer portal is set to close on Tuesday, April 22.
