Southampton take ‘decisive steps’ to sign attacker in January – Saints ‘above all’ for €30m+ deal
On Tuesday, reports emerged from Italy suggesting that Southampton is prepared to make a €30 million offer for Juventus’ Matias Soulé, who is currently on loan at Frosinone.
The winger has had a productive season, contributing six goals and one assist in 14 league matches. Frosinone’s sporting director, Guido Angelozzi, disclosed that “many” English clubs are monitoring Soulé, with Southampton being particularly keen.
Juventus, facing financial challenges, is contemplating selling some of their young talents, including Soulé, in the upcoming month to bolster their funds. Despite interest from various English clubs, Southampton appears to be leading the race for the 20-year-old, having taken decisive steps to secure his services.
However, the report notes that completing a deal in January might pose challenges for Southampton, possibly due to their current status in the Championship. The situation could be different if a Premier League team were to present an offer.
In the previous transfer window, Juventus valued the Argentina U21 international at approximately €20-25 million. According to Calciomercato, the deal is poised to commence, with a fee exceeding €30 million expected in January.
Soulé is reportedly becoming increasingly interested in a move to England, while Juventus is monitoring the developments of this case in the coming weeks.
If Southampton can successfully persuade all parties involved, there is a possibility of finalizing the deal during the winter transfer window.
