The Manly team is reportedly interested in Lachlan Galvin, an up-and-coming playmaker from the Wests Tigers. Galvin, who is seen as a potential long-term replacement for captain Daly Cherry-Evans, has had impressive performances in the Tigers’ pathways program over the past two seasons. He earned a spot in the Australian Schoolboys selection this year after winning the Harold Matthews Cup with the Wests Magpies in 2022.
Galvin is part of a talented group of playmakers at Concord, alongside players like Adam Doueihi, Aidan Sezer, Latu Fainu, Jayden Sullivan, and the expected recruit Jarome Luai under coach Benji Marshall. However, the challenge of breaking into the Tigers’ senior side has raised interest from other teams, with Manly reportedly expressing interest in the 18-year-old.
Despite being under contract with the Tigers on a Top 30 squad contract for the next three seasons, a potential move for Galvin could be considered by the Sea Eagles once Daly Cherry-Evans’ contract concludes at the end of the 2025 season. Cherry-Evans, a Queensland and Australia representative, will be 36 years old at the end of his deal, prompting Manly to think about the future after their longstanding halfback.
While formal discussions about luring Galvin to the Sea Eagles haven’t taken place, the teenager’s manager, Isaac Moses, who also represents Manly coach Anthony Siebold, could play a role in facilitating negotiations.
