Breaking news: Detroit tigers confirm another transfer agreement as the look to strengthen their team

According to a report by Tigers Torkmoil on X, Dylan Axelrod has been brought on board by the Tigers organization as the pitching performance and integration coordinator. At 38 years old, Axelrod, who previously pitched for the White Sox and Reds in the majors from 2011 to 2015, spent the last four years as the pitching coordinator for the Angels.

Last month, The Athletic’s Sam Blum revealed that Troy Percival, during a visit to the club’s minor league instructional camp, expressed dissatisfaction with the excessive use of iPads by pitchers, and this sentiment reportedly influenced the decisions to terminate Axelrod and Buddy Carlyle. Carlyle has since found a new position with the Rays, as reported by Eno Sarris of The Athletic.

In the article by Blum, pitchers such as Reid Detmers and Chase Silseth spoke positively about their experiences working with Axelrod. Now joining the Tigers, Axelrod will be tasked with guiding a pitching staff marked by uncertainty. Former first-round picks Casey Mize and Matt Manning are still striving to fulfill their potential amid past injuries and mixed results.

Younger pitchers like Reese Olson, Sawyer Gipson-Long, and Wilmer Flores are aiming to progress in their development. Additionally, Jack Flaherty is seeking a rebound season after signing a one-year deal.
