Even though Falcons supporters may be a bit disheartened by the team’s performance, there are several reasons for optimism.
The defensive side of the team has seen notable successes, with nearly every offseason addition proving effective in various roles. Players like David Onyemata, Jessie Bates III, and Jeff Okudah have lived up to expectations, and even exceeded them. The contributions of Calais Campbell, Bud Dupree, and Kaden Elliss have also been significant.
While the Falcons’ offense hasn’t consistently impressed, there have been standout individual performances from players like Chris Lindstrom, Drew Dalman, Jonnu Smith, Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts.
Recognizing these positive moments, PFF included three Falcons players in its midseason All-Pro Team—Jessie Bates as a first-team candidate, and Bradley Pinion and Chris Lindstrom earning second-team honors.
Jessie Bates, in particular, stands out as a potential candidate for the best free-agent signing of the offseason. His impact on and off the field has been crucial, providing both production and valuable leadership for the team.
Despite occasional struggles, especially with penalties, Chris Lindstrom continues to perform at a high level and is considered one of the premier guards in football. While some fans may have had unrealistic expectations given his contract, Lindstrom remains a key player for the Falcons and deserves recognition.
Looking ahead, there’s a strong possibility that both Jessie Bates and Chris Lindstrom could secure spots on the AP All-Pro teams by the end of the year.
