Washington Commanders sign the 26 years old off Eagles’ practice squad

The Washington Commanders have officially added Julian Good-Jones, a former CFL offensive lineman, to their active 53-man roster. Good-Jones, standing at six feet five inches and weighing 319 pounds, joined the Philadelphia Eagles during the previous off-season but spent the first half of the season on their practice roster after being waived during the final roster cuts.

Good-Jones boasts a significant playing history, with 22 starts over two seasons as the primary right tackle for the Calgary Stampeders (2021-22). During his final season with Calgary, the team allowed only 17 sacks, leading to impressive statistics of 6.4 yards per carry and 135.3 rushing yards per game—top rankings in the CFL.

It’s noteworthy that Calgary retains Good-Jones’ CFL rights until February 2024, after which he will be free to sign with any team. In his college career at Iowa State, Good-Jones played and started in 49 games over four seasons. He earned recognition as an honourable mention All-Big 12 player in 2017 and 2018, while achieving first-team All-Big 12 status in 2019.

During his senior year at Iowa State, Good-Jones played a pivotal role in breaking school records for total offense, touchdowns, passing yards, and yards per play. Additionally, the Cyclones only conceded 16 sacks, the fewest in the conference that season.

Looking ahead, the Washington Commanders, with a current record of 4-5, are set to face the Seattle Seahawks (5-3) on Sunday, November 12, at 4:25 p.m. EDT.
