The Miami Hurricanes seem to have secured their starting quarterback for the 2024 season. Following a tumultuous 2023 season with Tyler Van Dyke, who has since transferred to Wisconsin, at the helm, the team actively pursued options in the transfer portal.
Despite their efforts, when Cam Ward, the former Washington State signal caller, chose to enter the NFL Draft rather than transferring for a sixth college football season, concerns arose for Miami. In an attempt to sway Ward, the Hurricanes spared no expense, treating him and his family to a lavish dinner at one of South Beach’s most expensive luxury restaurants. They even enlisted rapper Rick Ross to assist in the pitch, backed by a substantial NIL package potentially reaching seven figures to ensure his generous compensation.
However, Ward’s decision to enter the NFL Draft left the ‘Canes and coach Mario Cristobal searching for alternatives. Finally, on Monday, they successfully identified their chosen quarterback.
