Breaking news: All-American Honors Roll In for Standout Georgia Freshman

Georgia’s 2023 campaign proved to be a remarkable and record-breaking season, setting a positive tone for the upcoming year. Following the conclusion of the season, numerous All-American accolades were bestowed upon some of the team’s top performers.

Today, the Football Writers Association of America unveiled their Freshman All-American teams, showcasing the outstanding contributions of several Bulldogs from the 2023 season. Among the thirty-two freshmen selected for this prestigious list, three players from Georgia earned the honor, putting them in a tie for the most selections alongside Clemson. This trio comprised offensive tackle Earnest Greene III, placekicker Peyton Woodring, and linebacker CJ Allen, marking the first instance since 2018 that the Bulldogs had three players recognized in this manner.

Georgia’s impressive streak continued, reaching eight consecutive seasons with at least one player earning a spot on the Freshman All-American list, a distinction unparalleled in college football.

Noteworthy mentions on the list included Alabama safety Caleb Downs, named the SEC Freshman of the Year, Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita, recognized as the PAC-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year, and Purdue safety Dillon Thieneman, honored as the BIG 10 Freshman of the Year.

Looking ahead, Kirby Smart and the Georgia team are gearing up for another promising season, having secured a loaded recruiting class. Anticipation is high for their return to the field during spring practice and the subsequent buildup to the season opener against Clemson in Atlanta come August.
