A resident of Michigan wins Powerball prize of $200,000 using Techniques

A Michigan man, James Allen, 63, from Commerce Township, recently secured a $200,000 Powerball win by playing his children’s birthdays as his lucky numbers. Allen purchased the winning ticket on December 28 in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and the drawing on December 30 revealed that four of his ticket numbers matched the winning digits, along with the Powerball. Initially thinking he had won $50,000, Allen later discovered that the “Power Play” option had multiplied his prize by four, bringing his total winnings to $200,000. Allen admitted that he overlooked the Power Play add-on game when first checking his ticket before realizing the actual amount he had won after waking up the next morning.

According to information provided on the Michigan Lottery website, individuals have the option to include the “Power Play” feature for an extra dollar when purchasing any Powerball ticket. The “Power Play” operates by increasing the value of non-jackpot prizes, with a maximum payout capped at $2 million. It’s important to note that Powerball tickets are available for sale at a standard price of $2 each.

In sharing his approach with the Michigan Lottery, Allen revealed that he consistently employs a specific strategy when playing Powerball – he selects his children’s birthdays as his chosen numbers. Emphasizing this practice, Allen expressed, “Every time I play Powerball, I pick my kids’ birthdays.” He happily noted that this particular strategy had proven highly successful on this occasion, stating, “This time, it really paid off!”

According to Jake Harris, a spokesperson for the Michigan Lottery, Allen’s strategy of selecting lottery numbers based on personal significance, such as children’s birthdays, is not uncommon. Harris noted, “Many players have specific sets of numbers they play because those numbers have a special meaning to them.”
