After the departure of ex-Alabama head coach Nick Saban, defensive back Antonio Kite revealed his decision to join Auburn following his entry into the transfer portal on Saturday, January 13. Kite’s commitment marks him as the second player to make the transfer from Alabama to Auburn in the modern era, with Corey Grant being the sole predecessor in 2011.

The 6-foot-1 redshirt freshman, who participated in seven games during the 2023 season primarily in a special teams capacity, had limited playing time in just two games in the 2022 campaign, which served as his redshirt season. Hailing from Anniston High School, Kite was a consensus four-star prospect, nationally ranked as the No. 164 player on the 247Composite, and held the No. 9 overall position in Alabama.
Facing departures of safeties Jaylin Simpson and Zion Puckett, as well as cornerbacks D.J. James and Nehemiah Pritchett to the NFL Draft, the Tigers have sought reinforcements. With the recent addition of Texas safety Jerrin Thompson, Kite aims to contribute to the team under the guidance of new co-defensive coordinator Charles Kelly, who played a crucial role in Kite’s initial recruitment to Alabama.
In joining Auburn, Kite anticipates making his mark in collegiate football, working alongside a youthful yet talented defensive unit.
