How Leicester City may set up at the King Power Stadium against the Black Cats as they aim to secure an eighth consecutive victory in the Championship and further solidify their position at the top of the league:
Leicester City’s manager, Enzo Maresca, might opt to give Kelechi Iheanacho the opportunity to extend his scoring streak by starting him in the match against Sunderland. This potential change could be the sole adjustment to the lineup. Iheanacho has scored in his last four Championship matches, three of which he came on as a substitute. Given Maresca’s policy of rotating the front players, and with Jamie Vardy unlikely to start two games within a short time frame, Iheanacho could be deployed as the primary striker as Leicester City aims for an eighth consecutive win on Tuesday.
Nevertheless, Maresca might believe that Vardy’s pace and incisive runs behind the defense could pose an early threat, with Iheanacho being a valuable asset later in the game when Sunderland’s players become fatigued. Apart from this potential change, it seems improbable that other alterations will be made. With Yunus Akgun sidelined due to injury, Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi are expected to maintain their positions on the wings, while Marc Albrighton has yet to be given a starting role in the Championship.
In the midfield, the only conceivable alteration could be Cesare Casadei replacing Wilfred Ndidi, but Ndidi currently provides a greater attacking threat. Therefore, he should continue alongside Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Harry Winks. In defense, there appears to be no need to disrupt the established back three consisting of Wout Faes, Jannik Vestergaard, and James Justin, with Ricardo Pereira likely to push forward.
With Yunus absent, either Ben Nelson or Wanya Marcal may need to be included on the bench, unless Maresca surprises everyone by calling up Will Alves, who has been training with the first team as he nears the end of his recovery from an ACL injury.
Predicted Leicester City lineup (4-3-3): Hermansen; Ricardo, Faes, Vestergaard, Justin; Winks, Ndidi, Dewsbury-Hall; Fatawu, Iheanacho, Mavididi.
