DONE DEAL: Steelers sign three LB who was working for Amazon to practice squad

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed five additional players to reserve/future contracts as part of their ongoing efforts to shape the roster for the upcoming season. This comes in addition to the 17 players the team had initially signed during the current offseason. The newly added players include outside linebacker David Perales, linebacker Tyler Murray, cornerback Josiah Scott, defensive back Kalon Barnes, and defensive back Thomas Graham. Perales, Murray, Scott, and Barnes had previous stints on the Steelers’ practice squad at different points in the season. Scott, in particular, moved on to the Philadelphia Eagles, playing in four games after his time with the Steelers. His previous experience includes 29 games, with four starts, during the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Eagles.

Perales, who spent last summer with the Steelers and had been waived at times throughout the year, returned to Pittsburgh in time for the playoff game against the Buffalo Bills. Murray, a former Memphis college football player, briefly joined the Steelers practice squad in November. During his college career, he achieved notable stats, including 67 tackles, six tackles for a loss, two interceptions, three quarterback hurries, and two passes defended in 2022, starting in 13 games. Graham, drafted by the Chicago Bears in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, played four games for the Bears, recording 13 tackles and four passes defended. Barnes, a seventh-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2022 NFL Draft, joined the Steelers practice squad just before Week 2, spending a brief period in Pittsburgh during the season. His college career at Baylor showcased three interceptions, 14 passes defensed, two and a half tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble.
